Description
“The C295 is a double pole NO contactor for AC and DC applications up to 1,600 V and 120 A of continuous current. The DC designs possess blowout magnets and electric arc arcing chambers. With one auxiliary contact per pole each, the switch state of the main contacts can be reported to the higher-level control system. This is important for safety applications.
The AC and DC contactors of the C295 series can frequently switch loads. Typical switching tasks can be found in vehicles and stationary systems of transport technology, especially in heating circuits, air-conditioning systems in the conversion technology of complex power supply systems. In battery systems, the positive and negative pole can be connected through one pole of the C295 in each case.”
“Voltages up to 1,600 volts in a compact design
The C295 is a compact contactor from the perspective of the rated insulation voltage of 1,600 volts for the designs C295 K and C295 L. The rated voltage of these designs is 1,200 volts per contact system. DC version with blowout magnets and arcing chamber
During switch off, an electric arc is ignited between the opening contacts. The current flows on through the ionised air. Permanent magnets drive the ionised air out of the contact zone into the arcing chamber. Here, the electric arc is extended and cooled until it goes out.
The C295 A design disconnects currents of up to 90 A with a voltage of 1,000 V DC (L/R = 1 ms). Auxiliary contacts with snap-action switches
Two S870 snap-action switches report the switch state of the main contacts to the higher-level control system. This changeover contact with positive opening is suitable for safety applications. Electrical service life: > 400,000 switching operations
The C295 is designed for switching frequently under load. The electrical service life is more than 400,000 switching operations (Ue = 700 V DC, I = 70 A, L/R = 1 ms, main contacts connected in parallel). Ambient temperatures: –40°C to +70°C
Based on its approval for rail applications (EN 60077-1, EN 60077-2), the contactor can be used in a wide range of temperatures. Multi-pole AC or DC applications: 200, 750 or 1,200 V
The two-pole compact contactor C295 is used everywhere two (or more) load circuits have to be switched simultaneously; e.g. the positive and negative poles of battery networks. Due to the three available voltage classes, there is a wide spectrum of fields of application:
Main contactor in photovoltaic Systems
Main and auxiliary contactor in electric vehicles
Heating and air-conditioning systems for railway technology
DC drives of machinery ”
